The Last Drop 50 Year Old Signature Blended Scotch Whisky is the 22nd release from the Sazerac-owned bottler. It is also the company’s inaugural signature blend.
Rebecca Jago, managing director of The Last Drop, said: “This wonderful 50-year-old blend marks a significant moment for The Last Drop as our first foray into the creation, as well as curation, of remarkable spirits.”
The whisky is also the first expression created by new master blender Colin Scott, who joined The Last Drop Distillers in September 2020.
Scott has more than 50 years of experience in the industry and was the former master blender for Pernod Ricard’s Scotch whisky arm Chivas Brothers.
Scott said: “In nearly half a century in the industry, this is only the second 50-year-old blend I have created, and I’m immensely proud both of the complexity of the whisky and of its significance: as The Last Drop’s first signature blend, and as my inaugural release with them.”
Limited to 500 bottles globally, the new expression is made from the company’s inventory of maturing malt and grain whiskies, and aged blends.
The whisky began as a new distillate of single malts and grains, which were filled into Sherry and Bourbon casks more than 50 years ago.
